This position is sedentary in nature; meaning employees sit for up to 7 hours out of an 8-hour workday (performing repetitive motion data entry and fish counting activities at a computer station).

The Contract Rate for this position is $26.33 per hour, plus an additional $.50 per hour in lieu of employee benefits. Additionally, and in accordance with the Washington State Paid Sick Leave Law, you will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours actually worked.
This is a seasonal on-call position that will work 200 – 300 hours for the season. The season typically ends mid-November. Work hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm and workdays may include Saturday and/or Sunday.
On-Call Fish Counter
Join our team at Chelan County Public Utility District. As one of the largest hydroelectric generating utilities in the Northwest, our mission at Chelan PUD is to improve the quality of life for the thousands of people who call our pristine desert and mountain community home.
Overview
Accurately identify and count various fish species and collect data on adult fish migration at the District's generating facilities located at Rocky Reach and Rock Island dam in support of District and outside agency hatchery and fish passage programs. The data is used by other District staff and outside fisheries agencies to monitor and evaluate the status of the fisheries resource in the mid Columbia, to help determine salmon and steelhead fishing seasons, and to determine the level of success achieved by the District's hatchery programs, fish passage operations, and overall Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) goals. This position works a variable schedule on an on-call basis.
