Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra Concert IV: America

The Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra will present America at the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee on Saturday, April 20 at 7:00 pm. Internationally recognized bluegrass, jazz, country, fiddling and classical violinist and composer Mark O’Connor will perform his Improvised Violin Concerto with the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra. O’Connor has won two Grammy awards; one for his New Nashville Cats album and another for his Appalachian Journey album that he recorded with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer. He was named Musician of the Year by the Country Music Association six years in a row (from 1991 to 1996). Over a three-year period, Mark was the most in-demand session musician of any instrument in any genre, and can be heard on over 500 albums including those of Dolly Parton, James Taylor, Randy Travis and The Judds. Also on the program will be Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Gershwin’s An American In Paris. The Wenatchee World is the concert sponsor.

Symphony Music Director Nikolas Caoile will present a Concert Prelude (pre-concert lecture), one hour prior to the performance. Preludes are complimentary for all ticket holders.

Ticket prices range from $16 to $35 and are available at the PAC Box Office or by calling 663-ARTS. For more information visit wenatcheesymphony.org or call the Symphony at 509.667-2640.
