Classical Mexican Tenor-Piano Duo

Tenor Rodrigo Garciarroyo and pianist Mario Alberto Hernández will present a classical music concert at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center on Saturday, April 28, at 4 p.m. The concert, part of the Piatigorsky Foundation series, is sponsored by Kathy and Wilfred Woods. There is no admission charge. All are welcome to visit with the artists after the performance.

Garciarroyo began singing at an early age and studied music at both the Escuela Nacional de Música and the Escuela Superior de Música in Mexico City. He was awarded the Plácido Domingo Scholarship and other prestigious scholarships to study in Puerto Rico, Israel and New York.  He made his debut at Lincoln Center in New York with the Verdi Requiem in 2009.

Hernández was born in León, Guanajuato, and began his studies with Eugenia Arvizu. As a pianist and conductor he has performed at festivals including the Cervantino, Sinaloa and Ciudad de México as well as with several Mexican symphony orchestras. He studied conducting at South Mississippi University and has collaborated with many embassies to promote young Mexican musicians.

The Piatigorsky Foundation was established in 1990 to present free concerts designed to inspire, evoke cultural curiosity and engage diverse audiences. The Woods Family has brought many Piatigorsky musicians to Wenatchee over the past 10 years.
